Frequently Asked Questions

What is Giwaza.com?

Giwaza gifts use the power of group giving to create once-in-a-lifetime acquisitions of art. It's ideal for weddings, retirements, anniversaries, housewarmings, memoriams, business openings, and a host of other gift-giving events.

How can I start my own Giwaza gift?

Giwaza.com is ideal for a wide range of gift-giving occasions. To start your own gift, click here.

How does a Giwaza gift work?

Giwaza participants donate individually toward a group gift of art. When total gifts reach the purchase price of the artwork, the gift is closed. The artwork, when given to the recipient, is accompanied by a certificate listing the names of those who contributed.

How long does it take to get the art once the target amount is reached?

Once a gift reaches its target dollar amount, the gift is closed to new donations.  At that point, Giwaza customer service issues payment to the art seller within one business day, and the art seller works with the gift organizer to arrange delivery.

How does Giwaza make money?

To defray the costs of website operation, excellent customer service, the creation of a certificate listing the givers, and credit card fund transfer, Giwaza earns a percent commission on every piece of art funded by the service.  To view the fee schedule, click here.

What happens if the combined gifts don't reach the purchase price of the artwork?

In the event of a shortfall, Giwaza works with gift organizers to make alternate arrangements.  In some cases, gift originators agree to cover the shortfall themselves. In other cases, gift originators accept a gift certificate for a certain artist or gallery, which is then presented to the recipient.  (Giwaza takes no commission on the shortfall.)
